Job Description:
Potato Products of Idaho (PPI) is hiring an entry level accounting professional to work onsite at the company's headquarters in Rigby, Idaho.
The Entry Level Accountant (ELA) supports the PPI Controller in completing accounting and finance activities for the company.
PPI is a very lean and flat organization offering the ELA opportunities to assist in all areas of the accounting function and financial management of a growth company.
Primary Responsibilities and Functions:
Become proficient in using key functions of the PPI accounting platform with a primary focus on general ledger maintenance, A/P and A/R processing, and reporting and analysis of financial performance (income statement and balance sheet.
Accurately process incoming vendor invoices daily, matching them to purchase orders and capturing value-added information for analyzing costs for various expense and balance sheet accounts.
Prepare key weekly and monthly financial reports that track overall company sales and profit performance, labor productivity, and other key revenue and cost variables.
Track and analyze SKU-level profitability on a shipment-by-shipment basis to understand the impact of pricing strategies, COGS, and freight revenues and costs on customer and destination profitability.
Conduct ad hoc analysis projects to help Management understand key factors affecting PPI's financial performance and to identify emerging issues and opportunities for the Director of Sales.
Longer term the ELA's responsibilities will broaden to include payroll-processing related activities, capital budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting/bill of materials management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's level degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Minimum GPA of 3.
0 with a 3.
5 or higher in accounting/finance related studies.
Working and applied knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles with experience using accounting software.
Strong math, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel including using pivot tables and other advanced analysis functions.
Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office products including MS Word and PowerPoint.
Internship or accounting work experience while obtaining degree a plus! Personal Attributes:
