This position will play a crucial role in providing support, intervention, and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities.
You will work closely with individuals, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to implement behavior plans, promote skill development, and enhance the overall quality of life for those you serve.
Your compassionate nature, patience, and understanding will be essential in building positive relationships and creating a supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
General Responsibilities Behavioral Support:
Implement behavior plans and strategies designed to reduce challenging behaviors and promote positive behavioral change.
Utilize evidence-based techniques to teach and reinforce appropriate behavior, improve communication skills, and develop functional life skills.
Skill Development:
Assess individual needs and develop tailored programs to enhance social, cognitive, emotional, and physical skills.
Utilize structured teaching methods, visual supports, and adaptive techniques to promote independence, self-care, and community integration.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Accurately document and maintain records of behavioral observations, interventions, progress, and outcomes.
Collect and analyze data to track individual progress, identify patterns, and make data-driven adjustments to behavior plans as necessary.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, psychologists, educators, and family members, to ensure coordinated care and consistent implementation of behavior plans.
Maintain open lines of communication to share progress, concerns, and strategies with team members and stakeholders.
Crisis Intervention:
Effectively respond to crisis situations, such as aggressive or self-injurious behaviors, using approved de-escalation techniques.
Implement crisis intervention strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and others involved.
Training and Education:
Provide guidance and training to individuals, family members, and caregivers on behavior management techniques, strategies, and support interventions.
Promote a holistic understanding of developmental disabilities and empower stakeholders to implement behavior plans effectively.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare clear, concise, and timely reports on individual progress, goals, and behavior plans.
Maintain accurate documentation according to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field.
A master's degree is preferred Knowledge of behavior management principles applied behavior analysis (ABA), and positive behavior support (PBS) strategies Familiarity with assessment tools and data collection methods used in behavior analysis Minimum of 12 months of supervised experience with children who have developmental disabilities Clean criminal history background check Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with individuals, families, and a multidisciplinary team Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, utilizing crisis intervention techniques when necessary Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required, depending on the job location and travel requirements Job Types:
